WFMW: Sunscreen Tip

After my dermatologist removed a mole from my leg this past February, she reminded me that sunscreen should be replaced every year. Being the quasi-frugal girl that I am, I've always ignored this tip. I've been known to cut squeeze bottles of lotion, sunscreen and makeup open just to scrape the last little bit out. I've rarely managed to use a entire tube of sunscreen a summer, so I typically save them.
But now that I've had a dysplastic mole (and the scar to match - goodbye, shorts), I'm changing my tune. On my last trip to Target, I got new sunscreen and I tossed my old stash when I got home. To help me remember to toss this bottle later, I've written "2010" on it with a Sharpie. Come summer of 2011, this bottle will be going in the trash. Sometimes, it's better to be safe that to save a few bucks!

Fire Extinguisher

I saw this advertised in Parent's magazine a year ago, but I could never find any in stores. I finally saw them at Michael's this week for $20. This fire extinguisher has a nozzle just like hair spray, so it is easy to use. No pin to pull out, clamp to unhook and lever to press like other models. What makes this even better is that this extinguisher is approved for all 3 types of fire - chemical, electrical and wood. Most extinguishers are only approved for 1 or 2 types of fire. Chances are, you'll never need to use a fire extinguisher, but wouldn't it be nice to have one like this - just in case?

Sex Offender Registry

For those of you who are not aware, Megan's Law, signed in 1996, requires that states make public information on sex offenders. To find out the details of those in your area, go to www.klaaskids.org/pg-legmeg.htm. Once there, you can follow the directions to view your city and state. You can view the name, address, offense, date convicted, and mug shot of the offenders. Keep in mind, however, that this list is in no way comprehensive and only shows the offenders who obey the law by registering.
